Reading Jigna Vora’s book - ‘Behind The Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’ piqued my interest and compelled me to bring this story alive on screen.

With my co-creator Mrunmayee Lagoo and producers Matchbox Shots, I am seeking to delve deep into a tale of our mediatised times  and the human cost of stories that we consume on a daily basis.

As an artist I always yearn to expand my horizon with every role I take up. The entire Matchbox Shots team gave me so much freedom to experiment with my role. Honestly, it felt like working with your family.

The whole experience of filming with this team was so creatively gratifying for me.

Making my debut feature with Matchbox Shots has been a truly enriching experience. Producers Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil made sure that I felt absolutely comfortable from day one. Their work ethics of providing respect to creators are really empowering. And the level headedness of the production team made sure that the team spirit stays intact even in times of crisis.

Making a noir film was always on my wishlist and  making it for Netflix with Matchbox Shots makes it an absolutely riveting combination.

A noir universe comes with it’s set stock of characters and conflicts that seamlessly retro-fit themselves in any time and scenario.

As a filmmaker, I'm always on the lookout for producers who can identify with my vision of storytelling.

The people at Matchbox Shots are  the perfect set of collaborators who have brought their creative expertise and skill sets effortlessly to the table.
