Matchbox Shots, the Mumbai-based banner behind “Andhadhun,” “Monica O My Darling” (Netflix) and “Scoop” (Netflix), is backing “Shamed,” an official adaptation of Sarbjit Kaur Athwal’s memoir of the same name.
For producer Sarita Patil of Matchbox Shots, the project’s urgency was immediate. “What drew me to this story was the way it exposes the insidious violence that can live beneath the surface of ‘happy families’. But it also offers an extraordinary template of resistance. It’s not only a story of betrayal, but of courage, of a woman who rises against impossible odds,” says Patil.
