Khauf Review: Monika Panwar & Rajat Kapoor Shine In Smita Singh’s Psychological Horror

Being a woman in India is not for the faint of heart, and Smita Singh’s new show Khauf has proved that. From getting stalked relentlessly to facing violent acts, like sexual harassment and physical assault, after rejecting the advances of your stalker, she has blended the real-life horrors faced by women in India with the psychological impact it has on them perfectly in her recently released psychological horror. Premiered on Prime Video, on April 18, the show follows the journey of Madhuri, a girl from Gwalior, who comes to Delhi in search of “freedom.” Freedom from what exactly, through? Let’s find out.

The show stars Monika Panwar, Rajat Kapoor, Chum Darang, Riya Shukla, Shilpa Shukla, Priyanka Setia, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Gagan Arora, Aasheema Vardaan, Shalini Vatsa, and others. Jam packed with powerful actresses the show is quite intriguing. It starts off like just another horror show, with women living peacefully in Pragati Women Working Hostel situated in Delhi. It is shown that a girl residing in room 333 is relentlessly stalked by someone, who likes to point laser light on her. We are also introduced to her friend group. After giving hints that something horrific happened in the room, and that a supernatural being resides there, we are introduced to Madhuri (played by Monika Panwar).
